Heather Cruice teaches Kindergarten and joined the VPS faculty in 2015. Mrs. Cruice has a BA in elementary education and an MA in special education from Furman University. She also has an additional certification in early childhood education from Converse College. Prior to teaching at Veritas, she taught for six years with Greenville County Schools. Mrs. Cruice and her husband, Mike, have two children and attend North Hills Community Church. She enjoys running, snowboarding, hiking, and crafting.
Andrea McKee assists teaching in Kindergarten and joined the staff in 2017. She has been a part of the Veritas community since 2014 as a co-teacher. Mrs. McKee has a B.S. in Psychology from the College of Charleston. She enjoys hiking with her family, cooking and baking with the kids, and reading. Andrea and her husband, Adam, have three children. They attend Downtown Presbyterian Church.
Marianne Geliske teaches 1st grade and joined the faculty in 2013. Marianne graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in Early Childhood Education and has been teaching for 8 years in Christian schools in the United States and Colombia. Mrs. Geliske and her husband, David, love living in Traveler’s Rest, hiking at Jones Gap, and walking on the Swamp Rabbit Trail as well as cooking and spending time with family. They attend Grace Church and lead an adult small group there and work with the youth group. Marianne especially loves watching students develop a love of reading.
Sharon Griffin teaches 1st grade and joined the staff in 2013. Mrs. Griffin earned her BA in elementary education at Erskine College. In addition to working in public schools, Sharon and her husband, David, classically homeschooled their three daughters up through high school. Mrs. Griffin enjoys gardening, sewing, reading, and hiking. She and her husband, David, attend Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) church, where David serves as the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care and Membership.
Stacey Babinicz teaches 2nd grade and joined the staff in 2015. She has taught for eight years in both 2nd and 3rd grades for Greenville County Schools. Mrs. Babinicz earned her BS in elementary education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. She and her husband, Mike, have two daughters and enjoy swimming and boating on Lake Keowee. They attend Greenville First Church of the Nazarene.
Amanda Bernstein teaches 2nd grade and joined our faculty in 2015. She has taught for ten years in Kindergarten, 1st, and 5th grades. Mrs. Bernstein earned her BA from Virginia Tech and M.Ed from the University of Virginia. Amanda and her husband, Sacha, have two boys and enjoy spending time together outdoors. Amanda and her family attend Grace Church in Powdersville, where she helps welcome and connect visitors to the church.
Julianna Rainsford teaches 3rd grade at Veritas and came on staff in 2013. JP has taught for 3 years, since graduating from Covenant College with a BA in early education. Mrs. Rainsford and her husband, Ryland, enjoy running and sports, photography, and reading. They attend Downtown Presbyterian Church.
Farah Apicella teaches 3rd grade and joined the faculty in 2017. Farah has a BA from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and an MA from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. She loves to travel and has taught English on 4 continents. She and her husband, Doug, have five children. Before joining Veritas she classically homeschooled her children. As a family they love to cook (eat!) and host get-togethers. They attend Downtown Presbyterian Church.
Sarah Fink teaches 4th grade and joined the staff of Veritas in 2014. She has taught for nine years in 1st, 3rd and 6-8 grades before staying home to raise four children. Mrs. Fink earned her BA in elementary education from Northwestern College and MAs in Education from Hamline University and Reading Recovery from UNC Wilmington. Sarah enjoys reading, taking walks as a family, and baking with her kids. Mrs. Fink and her husband, David, attend The Village Church.
Megan Shirley teaches 4th grade at Veritas and joined the faculty in 2017. She has been part of the Veritas community since 2013 as a co-teacher. Megan has a Bachelor of Science from from Emory University. Her hobbies are traveling, reading and drinking tea (preferably all at the same time). She and her husband, Rhett, have four children who love visiting new places as much as they do. They are members of Christ the Redeemer.
Esther Hutcheson teaches 5th grade and joined Veritas in 2015. She earned her BS in education and her MA in history from Bob Jones University. Ms. Hutcheson worked as a graduate assistant during school and in 2012 interned in the British Parliament. Esther grew up in northeast Georgia and is one of nine children. She enjoys reading, knitting, podcasts, hiking, and camping.
Rose Fyock teaches 6th and 7th grade math and 3rd and 4th grade Latin. Mrs. Fyock joined the Veritas faculty in 2016, though had been a co-teacher since 2014. She has a BS in psychology from Northwestern University and has taught middle school maths for 5 years and worked with youth for over 20 years. Rose’s hobbies include travel, running, reading old books, drinking coffee, hiking, and hanging out in downtown Greenville. Rose and her husband, Christopher, have two children, and they are members of Downtown Presbyterian Church.
Laura Huband teaches 6th and 7th grade humanities and runs Shakespeare Club at Veritas. She joined the staff in 2015, moving from Southern California, where she taught at a classical school for eleven years. Ms. Huband has a BA in Humanities with a minor in Biblical Studies from Biola University and spent a semester at The Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Oxford University. She also earned an MA in History from the University of California, Irvine and attends Downtown Presbyterian Church. Laura enjoys reading and spending time with her large extended family, but her passion is teaching.
Lauren Welch teaches Music and joined the Veritas faculty in 2015. She earned her BA in Musical Arts from Dallas Baptist University in 2004 and has taught private voice and piano lessons since graduating, while staying home to raise her two sons. Mrs. Welch has also served on many music ministry teams and enjoys leading worship. She also teaches preschool music to 1 & 2 year olds at Westminster Weekday School.
Sarah Barron teaches Upper School Choir and joined the Veritas faculty in 2017. She earned her B.M. Degree in Music Education from the University of TN at Chattanooga in 2006 and has since been teaching music in several school and church settings in TN, SC, and Spain. Sarah and her husband, Will, enjoy exploring small towns, window shopping at antique stores, and hiking with their dog, Knox. They are members at Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) Church.
Tina Check joined Veritas in 2017, as our art teacher. She is a graduate of Furman University with a BA in Art. Mrs. Check has a marketing background and has taught preschool and elementary art as well as private lessons with homeschoolers. She and her husband, Ben, have two boys. She enjoys spending time with her family, painting, crocheting, reading, coffee, and volunteering. She has a passion for sharing Jesus with others and bringing out the artist in everyone. Her family attends Brookwood Church.
Jon serves as the headmaster of Veritas and teaches Latin and logic. Jon has worked in churches, ministries, and schools teaching sunday school, Bible studies, and academic classes over his career. He earned his BA in Biblical Languages from Moody Bible Institute and his MA in Biblical Exegesis from Wheaton College. Before coming to Veritas in 2014, Mr. McCord served as a teacher and headmaster at a classical Christian school in Chicago for seven years. Besides reading and writing, Jon enjoys gardening, fishing, and playing music. Jon and his wife, Lesley, have three sons and attend Downtown Presbyterian Church.
Adam Bloom – Head of Upper School and Teacher
Adam serves as the head of upper school and also teaches humanities and logic. Adam received his BA in biblical studies from Grove City College and his MA in historical theology from Wheaton College. Prior to coming to Veritas, Adam taught for nine years at a classical Christian school in Chicago. He also serves as a part-time proofreader for Crossway publishers. Adam and his wife Alexandra have two boys with one more on the way. They attend Grace and Peace Presbyterian Church.
Kacy Lehn – Director of Community Care
Kacy has been a part of the Veritas community as a co-teacher since 2013. She and her husband, Trip, have three children at Veritas. Kacy has a B.S. in Biology from Furman University and a M.A. in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. She has experience in secondary science education and counseling children. Her family has lived in Greenville for the past nine years and are members of Downtown Presbyterian Church.
Ginger Wallace – Director of Development and Admissions
Ginger received a BA in Sociology from Furman University. Prior to staying home to raise and co-teach her three children, Ginger worked in Development and Alumni Relations roles at National Cathedral School (Washington, D.C.) and Ensworth School (Nashville, TN). Ginger is a founder of Veritas and attends Downtown Presbyterian Church. She loves good food, good books and good friends.
Jen Burnett – Executive Assistant
