College Counseling

Philosophy

Of College and Life

At Veritas, we believe that no two students are exactly alike. We all have unique gifts and God-given talents to use in this world. We strive to help students identify their passions and individual strengths over the course of their high school careers. Our goal is to develop life-long learners who are courageous in their endeavors, thoughtful in the way they communicate to others, and leave Veritas with a heart to serve others for a lifetime. While most of our students plan to attend a four year college or university after graduation, our college counseling program tailors a plan specific to each student. Our goal is to come alongside and support families and students during this exciting four-year process.

Kacy has been a part of the Veritas community as a co-teacher since 2013 and a staff member since 2016. She has a BS is Biology from Furman University and a MA in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. She has experience in secondary science education and counseling children. She became the Veritas college counselor in 2019. Kacy is a member of NACAC and SACAC, and loves walking students through the college admissions process. She and her husband, Trip, have 3 children at Veritas, and have lived in Greenville since 2007, where they are members of Downtown Presbyterian Church.

For Admission Counselors

College Acceptances

SCOIR

Veritas uses SCOIR, a college guidance management system. SCOIR streamlines the process of requesting, processing, sending, and tracking the electronic delivery of all application-related documents. Students and parents find SCOIR useful in the college search process with colleges coming to life through pictures, videos, and links. Students will gain access to their personal SCOIR account in the fall of their freshman year.

COMPREHENSIVE COLLEGE COUNSELING

While the college admissions process continues to evolve, so will our guidance and planning. Our college counseling program walks families through every step of the process: from personality inventories to scholarships and financial aid. Our students have the opportunity to participate in campus visits, learn about the scholarship search, listen to guest lectures on the admissions process, and attend monthly individual counseling sessions with Mrs. Lehn. The details of this plan are delivered annually in the fall to all freshman students and their parents. At this meeting, students are given their Veritas college counseling notebooks as well as access to their SCOIR accounts.
